The historic village of Osmotherley is a pleasant 10 minute walk. An attractive and thriving village, it was once famous for the brewing of ale and bleaching of linen cloth. Osmotherley now offers three pubs/restaurants, tearooms and shops and is famous 'walking country'. From the gateway of the Park is a vast network of public footpaths and cycle paths leading onto the North York Moors and beyond. These include the Cleveland Way, the nearby Coast to Coast and the Lyke Wake Walk which begins at Cod Beck Reservoir. The National Cycle Network (Route 65) is also accessible from the Park.
Northallerton is our local town about 6 miles away. A busy, rural market town with market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A popular shopping town due to its many 'unusual' shops. Supermarkets, all High Street banks and Tourist Infomation are here. Within 15 minutes drive of Cote Ghyll are Hambleton Leisure Centre (with indoor swimming pool & gym), pony trekking, fishing, Sutton Bank Gliding Club, Romanby golf club and cinemas.
