Cote Ghyll Mill, a converted linen mill steeped in history, has been running as a youth hostel for over 40 years and provides affordable, modern, fresh accommodation and delicious home cooked meals.
Sleeps 61 (including 5 roll out beds). Each room offers individual bed lights with electric & USB sockets. There are:-
4 x 2 bedded en-suite rooms
6 x 4 bedded en-suite rooms (includes 2 double beds)
4 x 6 bedded en-suite rooms (includes 2 double beds).
2 bedded rooms -perfect for those wanting their own privacy.
Great value family rooms – either 4 bedded or 6 bedded including a double bed.
Sharing rooms for those on a budget – male and female allocated rooms.
Extra showers and WC’s are provided on the corridor.Please note: For Family and Individual bookings, your bed is made up for you. For Group and Exclusive Hire bookings, all bedlinen is supplied but you will need to make your own beds.
All 14 bedrooms are en-suite and incorporate Walk in shower, washbasin, WC & hairdryer.
There are extra showers and WC’s in the corridor.
Why not try our sumptuous, buffet style full English breakfast with sausage, bacon, toast, cereal, tea & coffee – a perfect way to start the day! Alternatively if you’re making an early start we can provide you with a ‘packed breakfast’ to go.

Our delicious evening meal menu offers freshly prepared, home cooked meals to suit all ages and tastes including the smaller guest who can choose from the children’s menu. We will even keep them entertained with free children’s colouring packs!

We can cater for most diets. Please specify if you have any dietary requirements on booking. If you are staying with us at the quieter times of year please check with us on booking if the café is open during your stay.
Our licensed bar serves a range of local bottled ales, beers and lagers, wines, soft drinks, coffee & delicious hot chocolate together with sweets and snacks. The bar is open from 5.30pm to 9.00pm.

Relax in our comfortable lounge with fully licensed Reception bar serving alcoholic & soft drinks, tea, coffee, sweets, snacks, maps, toys & souvenirs.
A larger range of tinned food, bread, drinks and toys available from the neighbouring caravan park shop.
A cosy, separate TV lounge with large, flat screen TV & DVD player, a selection of toys, games, books & tourist information leaflets providing you with an place to relax after a tiring day.
Our games area offers a pool table (coin operated) and assorted games. A table tennis table is also available (to be pre-arranged).
Our meeting room holds up to 30 people & is available for groups during their stay. Perfect for courses, meetings, school discos or recreational activities, it includes tables, chairs, white board and table tennis table (by arrangement). The room can be accessed by separate outside door making it also available for stand alone room hire.
Cote Ghyll Mill (YHA) is located in a beautiful area with footpaths and cycle routes from the doorstep.
School & groups can make use of our new campfire & bushcrafts area adjacent to Cod Beck stream and the Old Mill waterfall. Youngsters can enjoy our Nature trail taking you around the Mill grounds and to Cod Beck Reservoir.
Proprietors Jon & Helen Hill pride themselves on providing exceptional customer service & excellent facilities. Jon & Helen are very hands-on and run the Mill along with Cote Ghyll’s very experienced Hostel Manager, Chris Paul, Assistant Manager Karen Hillary and the team of welcoming, approachable staff.
Although family owned Cote Ghyll remains affiliated with the Youth Hostel Association (YHA). and thus benefits from the support and resources of the YHA backed up with the care and love that only private owners can give.
