Springtime at Cote Ghyll
Posted on 16 Mar 2020 in News

The first day of Spring is just around the corner. For months, frost has slithered its way over branches and treetops, rain left us drenched, and animals have burrowed themselves away, waiting patiently for warmth to resurface. But, at last, the new season is just about here, bringing life and colour to our stunning surroundings. We’ve seen the snowdrops and crocus coming out already, the spring lambs are making an appearance, and there is already a bit of a buzz about the place.
Now’s the time to start planning your first Cote Ghyll trip of the year, here’s what you can look forward to as the weather starts to brighten…
When spring emerges, you can enjoy basking in the warmth of a sunny day, perhaps on one of our many beautiful hard-standing pitches complete with electric hookup. So, consider packing a few camping or deckchairs and t-shirts in the hope of good weather.
However, don’t forget to bring waterproofs for when the April showers come our way. The evenings can still be chilly, cooler breezes make for fresher air and it brings out the glorious smell of the earth that you just don’t get when the suns been beating down for days. Preparation is key, make sure you’ve bought your wellies and rain jackets and if you’re in one of our static holiday homes, make the most of the central heating!
Cote Ghyll is a treat in springtime. As spots of rain align with those first, shafting yellow rays from the sky, our flowers are already blooming along the driveway beneath the trees. We’re lucky to be situated on some of the most amazing walkways and cycle routes, The Cleveland Way, Coast to Coast, Lyke Wake Walk and the stunning Cod Beck reservoir are some of the many attractions right on our doorstep. Roseberry Topping gives a stunning view of the North Yorkshire Moors, on a clear day you can see for miles!
In comparison to the madness of everyday life, the mere sight of a young lamb, bouncing around its mother, can bring things into perspective. The grounds around Cote Ghyll are amass with rabbits, pheasants, and an array of other wildlife that reappears at this time of year.
We can’t wait for the warmer weather and to get the new season into full swing.
