Cote Ghyll Mill in North Yorkshire is a converted linen mill. It’s steeped in history, has been running as a Yorkshire youth hostel for over 40 years, and today offers brilliantly affordable, modern, family and group accommodation.
Group accommodation in North Yorkshire isn’t always easy to find, but Cote Ghyll Mill has been thoughtfully refurbished to deliver large scale comfort with individual space. The Mill sleeps 61 (including 5 roll out beds) in en-suite rooms sleeping 2 to 6 people. Each room offers individual bed lights with electric & USB sockets. There are:
4 x 2 bedded en-suite rooms
6 x 4 bedded en-suite rooms (includes 2 with double beds)
4 x 6 bedded en-suite rooms (includes 2 with double beds)
It may be a great place for family and group accommodation in Yorkshire, but you can still find privacy at Cote Ghyll Mill in our 2 bedded rooms.
Our 4 or 6 bed rooms are perfect for families and include a double bed.
And if you’re on a tight budget you can still share rooms hostel-style in our male and female allocated rooms.
Please note: For individual and family bookings at our Yorkshire holiday accommodation, we’ll make your bed up for you. For group accommodation and exclusive hire bookings, we’ll supply all the bedlinen, but you will need to make your own beds.

The room is yours to use when you book exclusive use of our Yorkshire group accommodation. As the room can be accessed by a separate outside door, it is also available for standalone room hire when you stay with us.
Cote Ghyll Mill Youth Hostel is set in a beautiful area with footpaths and cycle routes from the doorstep.
School and group guests can make use of our new campfire and bushcrafts area adjacent to Cod Beck stream and the Old Mill waterfall. Youngsters can enjoy our Nature trail taking you around the Mill grounds and to Cod Beck Reservoir.
We take real pride in the excellent service and facilities we offer at Cote Gill Mill. We realise that this sort of affordable group accommodation in Yorkshire is hard to find, so we wanted to make it a special place for everyone who stays with us, whether individuals, families, groups or schools.
We’re very hands-on so you’ll always see us about, and supporting us we have a wonderful team of welcoming, approachable staff led by Manager Chris Paul (an expert at creating a Yorkshire youth hostel for the 21st century) and Assistant Managers, Sue & Phil Vaughan.
We hope to see you very soon.
Jon & Helen Hill, Proprietors
Yorkshire youth hostels have come a long way since we took ownership of Cote Ghyll Mill. Although the Mill is very much our own take on family and group accommodation in Yorkshire, we’re proud to say we remain affiliated with the Youth Hostel Association (YHA) and benefit from the YHA’s support and resources.
