The milestone at the Mill

One of the joys of covering lots of miles on foot or bike is the anticipation of each night’s rest. Meeting likeminded people and sharing tales, advice and route info over good food and the occasional beer is a rewarding way to end each day – and life’s even better when you have a comfy bed to fall into.
That’s why Cote Ghyll Mill’s group accommodation in Yorkshire is proving increasingly popular with walkers and cyclists in search of just the right place to start or end the Lyke Wake Walk (we’re virtually sat on the western start point), or tackle multi-day challenges like the Coast to Coast.

Why stopping at Cote Ghyll Mill makes perfect sense
Location: Richmond to Osmotherley (where you’ll find our Yorkshire group accommodation and campsite) is a standard leg of the Coast to Coast and sets you up nicely for the following day’s leg to Clay Bank Top. It’s also on the typical Cleveland Way route, marking the end of day two from Sutton Bank, and the start of day three to Kildale. We’re listed in Sherpavan’s guide, so if you’re asking them to carry your pack for you they won’t have any trouble finding us.
Space: Whether you’re walking solo, in a small group, or tackling big distances in big teams, there’s room for everyone to stay together at Cote Ghyll Mill. We’re a former YHA North Yorkshire Youth Hostel (and still approved by YHA), but since taking over the Mill we’ve added en suites, Wi-Fi, individual mobile charging points by beds and, depending on your time of visit, delicious home cooked meals and a welcoming bar to mark the end of your day.

If you don’t want the camaraderie of a team event compromised by everyone staying in different B&Bs (and if you don’t want the faff of booking half a dozen different places), you’ll find we offer group accommodation in North Yorkshire where everyone can stay together.
And if you’re walking individually or as a couple don’t worry – you’ll always get a room to yourself.
Cost: There’s another advantage to bringing your group to our youth hostel-type accommodation: you can keep costs down. Group rates start at just £17pppn; individual rates start from just £26 pppn.
